Problems viewing content in Canvas?
Check Firefox or Chrome’s Privacy Settings

Recently, Firefox and Chrome web browsers have begun putting in extra security features that can block viewing a link to any website address beginning http:// (vs https:// = secured server) or some files inside of Canvas. Good news is you can tell Firefox or Chrome to allow you to view these links…

Firefox

If you visit a page in your Canvas course that is linked to a website beginning http:// (vs https://) or some files, Firefox will display a shield icon in the browser address bar [1].

You can choose to override the security restriction and display the content anyway by clicking the shield icon, clicking the Keep Blocking drop-down menu [2], and selecting the Disable Protection on This Page option [3].

Chrome

If you visit a page in your Canvas course that is linked to a website beginning http:// (vs https://) or some files, Chrome will display a shield icon in the browser address bar.

You can choose to override the security restriction and display the content anyway by clicking the shield icon and then clicking the Load unsafe script button.
