As part of an action project to implement Scholarship of Teaching Best practices to improve success, both NC State Students & Faculty were asked to complete online surveys to rate their perceptions of the 7 Best Practices.

2014 NC State Student responses: 137

2014 NC State Faculty responses: 40

While featuring questions for each best practice, the wording of the Student survey was “how would you rate the overall level of….” while the faculty survey phrased it as “How would you rate the amount of structured … you currently have built-in by design to your NCSC Courses?”

BEST PRACTICE PERCEPTIONS #1 – Faculty-Student Interaction

Picture1The biggest gap is in the “A Lot”  rating with faculty rating 7.77 higher the amount they built in.

While 2.19% (3) students perceived “Not Much at all,” this may be offset by the fact that, at a minimum, all faculty respondents build in at least “Some” structured Faculty-Student interaction.
